In this role you will assist the Head of Legal & Compliance in its objective to ensure full compliance with the applicable Dutch rules and regulations and internal policies so that the compliance framework and plan are demonstrably appropriate and effective and legal risk are mitigated. You will provide on-site Legal & Compliance advice and trainings.

In your Role as Legal & Compliance Officer your main responsibilities will involve to:

  • Deliver comprehensive Compliance & Legal services in a timely and efficient manner in order to mitigate regulatory, legal and reputational risks;
  • Participate in Compliance Group projects;
  • Actively take part to the proper implementation of legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Act as the data privacy coordinator;
  • Participate to efficient identification of client (KYC) for onboarding, and proper monitoring of suspicious activities and transactions through Anti Money Laundering, Customer Due diligence and Know Your Client checks;
  • Take active part to the achievement of the annual AML, compliance and monitoring plan and regulatory reports;
  • Handles the Sanction Screening process at account opening and on an on-going basis;
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business in understanding and interpreting Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime and other front office facing relevant regulations. Lead all client onboarding matters;
  • Streamline compliance policies and procedures and communicate the understanding such that understanding and adherence are facilitated and promoted;
  • Participate in Dutch Financial Market Infrastructure regulations impact assessment and roll-out, new product implementation or other proposals, providing advice in order to meet regulatory requirements and identify potential compliance issues;
  • Provide legal advice on potential client-facing corporate banking transactions and with vendors if and when required;
  • Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff;
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken;
  • Provide legal protection and (compliance) risk management advice especially on contract management;
  • Answer queries from internal and external stakeholders;
  • Development and delivery of appropriate trainings and advisory to the branch staff on compliance & legal items;
  • Actively monitor regulatory up date’s and when appropriate takes part to meetings with regulators or attend professional association meetings;
  • Continuously takes part in the improvement of operational procedures and contributes to product offering and service quality.
