Officer Operational Risk Officer Enterprise Risk

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • 5+ work experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working in regulated financial institutions
  • Proficiency in SAP

SPECIFIEKE SKILLS

My client is a European market leader managing VAT and Excise Duty refunds on behalf of its customers. My client employs around 150 people, with 33 different nationalities, and is located conveniently in WTC Utrecht – located next to Utrecht CS.

You are an experienced risk manager working in the financial services industry. In this position you will be responsible for defining a clear framework and roadmap for operational risk management. You will also be responsible for the execution of the key activities related to operational risk management. This is expected to be a stand-alone role – where the team may be expanded in the future , e.g. IT Risk/Security. 

This position provides a unique opportunity to shape the framework and direction of risk management.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Operational Risk Management

  • Start and lead the Business Impact Assessment for Refund
  • Develop a clear roadmap and planning for operational risk management
  • Develop and maintain the operational risk framework, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) across business units.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators and escalate emerging risks.
  • Oversee incident management and root cause analysis for operational failures.
  • Identify and monitor regulatory-related risks (fraud, cybersecurity, third-party providers).
  • Ensure technical and operational controls for payment services are effective.
  • Provide input for regulatory reporting and audits.
  • Train staff in operational risk awareness and control procedures.


Internal Control

  • Design and implement internal control frameworks for operational processes and payment services.
  • Ensure segregation of duties, access controls, and transaction monitoring.
  • Conduct regular control testing and internal audits to verify effectiveness.
  • Detect and correct process irregularities promptly.


Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare consolidated risk and control reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on regulatory audits and incident reporting.
  • Maintain documentation for audit readiness.
  • Monitor industry best practices and regulatory developments.
