  • Bachelor or Master’s degree/level in law, business administration, economics, or a related field;
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in compliance financial crime or AML roles within the second line in the financial sector
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations e.g. Wwft, AMLD, Sw, OFAC, FATF standards;
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development, risk assessment and providing independent challenge;
  • Experience with the execution of Compliance Monitoring and reporting within the FEC domain;
  • Responsible, self-starting professional with strong analytical, problem-solving and social skills;
  • Proactive and collaborative work approach;
  • Interested to work in and learn from an international / intercultural environment and willingness to commute in;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Dutch.

The principal purpose of this Second Line role is to stimulate and develop a culture of integrity risk awareness throughout the organisation. As a Senior FEC Compliance Officer at the bank in Europe, you are responsible for ensuring and promoting compliance with laws, regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards. You play a key role in the bank’s integrity risk management and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters. You work closely together with stakeholders from various divisions and senior management under the guidance of the Head of Legal & Compliance as well as in close cooperation with the Legal & Compliance team.

Tasks associated with the function:

  • Provide independent oversight, advice and challenge the first line regrading FEC risks, controls and processes.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance FEC-related policies, standards and framework in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of FEC controls, conducting thematic reviews and risk assessments.
  • Advise on complex FEC issues, regulatory changes and emerging risks to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Review and challenge the quality of customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), transaction monitoring and suspicious/unusual activity.
  • Support the bank in regulatory examinations, audits and communication with the supervisory authorities.
  • Analyse regulatory developments and industry trends, translating them in actionable guidance for the business.
  • Initiate and perform other compliance risk assessments as and when it is deemed necessary.
  • Provide awareness sessions and trainings on FEC related topics;
  • Work closely with other divisions and contribute to fostering a strong compliance culture within the bank.
  • Support the realisation of NBE's Business Plan in a sound and controlled manner by proactively sharing your knowledge, experience and insights.
