  • Subject matter expertise - You have a strong understanding of Dutch and European financial rules and regulations, preferably in the banking and investment services sector. An understanding of derivatives and complex products is preferred
  • Mindset - You have the ability to work independently and to find creative and pragmatic solutions. You can translate complex legal problems into practical advice
  • Work experience - 6+ years of experience working with financial regulations, for example at a law firm, or in-house at a regulator or a financial institution
  • Education - You have a master’s degree in law (or a comparable qualification), preferably with a specialization in financial regulations or a related field
  • Language - You have excellent written and verbal skills in English and Dutch. Communication skills in other languages are appreciated
  • This is a full-time position, based in Amsterdam. In-person collaboration is valued, and regular office presence is expected.

The Client is looking for a Regulatory Counsel to join its Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs department. You will report directly to the Deputy Head of Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs.

As Regulatory Counsel, you will play a key role in building the Regulatory Risk & Horizon Scanning Framework. You will support the development of robust processes and practices around regulatory risk management. In this role, you will help the organization navigate the international financial regulatory landscape, working closely with colleagues from different teams and locations. You will advise on financial regulations, assist with the launch of new products, and contribute to enhancing policies and procedures.

  • Be a key contributor to strategic initiatives enhancing the Regulatory Affairs function
  • Provide pragmatic advice to other teams as a financial regulatory subject matter expert
  • Manage the interactions with regulatory authorities in the Netherlands and abroad
  • Play a central role in the regulatory horizon scanning endeavors and ensure that stakeholders across the company remain informed of regulatory developments
  • Maintain a holistic overview of the regulatory implementation initiatives to ensure the timely implementation of regulatory change
  • Prepare and submit applications, submissions and filings to regulatory authorities, for example to request authorizations or exemptions
  • Interact and collaborate with colleagues across the region on financial regulatory topics
  • Liaise with external counsel, both in the Netherlands and abroad, to validate solutions and understand regulatory requirements
